Study Tour Registration Deadline
We would like to inform you that the final day to register for the Study Tour is Monday, September 1st, at 18:00. No new tour registrations will be accepted after this time.
Participants will be picked up from the conference venue at 09.00 in the morning and get transferred to the Cretaquarium at 13 km from Heraklion to have an interesting, guided study tour. The departure for the town of Elounda or the small fishing village of Plaka starts at around 12.00-12.30 and we need approximately 50-60 minutes drive. Then, we will take a 20 min boat ride to the island of Spinalonga. Spinalonga is a small island with an exceptionally interesting history. The Venetian Fortress, which still stands, was built in 1579 and it protected the entire gulf. After the Turks left, in 1903, Spinalonga developed into a gathering place for lepers from all over Crete. After this nice visit, the boat will bring participants back for a tasteful lunch and we will visit Ag. Nikolaos town. There will be free time to enjoy a coffee, before returning to Heraklion in the late afternoon.
In case of a different entrance fee to Spinalonga, the price per person will be adjusted accordingly: unfortunately the entrance fee to Spinalonga changed from 8.00 euros to 20 euros (03/07/2025). The price is adjusted accordingly.
The excursion fee includes:
-transfers with luxury a/c coach
-entrance fee to Cretaquarium (sponsored by HCMR IMBBC)
-one professional/official English-speaking guide per coach
-boat ride to/from Spinalonga Island
-full guidance at the Spinalonga Island
-entrance fee to Spinalonga site
-lunch
Price 79.00 euros per person

For the attendees, who will not join the study tour of the 5th of September, there will be a discount at the regular 12 euros entrance fee for the Cretaquarium. They can pay 8 euros by stating that they participate at the conference. This is an offer of HCMR to the attendees of the conference and it is valid for the whole duration of the conference, including the weekend (6 & 7 September) for the people staying longer.
